Our Story

Thunderbird Drop Box is a successful minority and family-owned small business operating in the Portland area owned by Halle and Nick Bowman along with Halle’s father, Terrell Garrett.

This trio has over 30 years combined experience in the solid waste industry. They work together to ensure Thunderbird is practicing good environmental stewardship.

Terrell and Halle wanted to honor their Hispanic and Native American heritage, so they named the company Thunderbird from the Indian culture, symbolizing power, protection and strength. All these traits are highly valued by the family.

Thunderbird is certified as an Oregon Minority Business Enterprise and the company is a member of the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs.

Thunderbird’s sister company, GreenWay Recycling, a material recycling facility, is owned by Terrell Garrett, and another sister company, Adobe Transport, a solid waste hauling business, is owned by Halle and Nick Bowman.
